Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.49% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Unizyx Holding (TW:3704), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Kpt Industries (TW:1805) added 9.98% or 0.58 points to end at 6.39 and Genius (TW:3406) was up 9.97% or 17.00 points to 187.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pqi (TW:6145), which lost 6.54% or 1.00 points to trade at 14.30 in late trade. Sinher (TW:4999) declined 4.43% or 2.50 points to end at 53.90 and Kingcan (TW:8411) shed 4.20% or 1.40 points to 31.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 402 to 385 and 94 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.44% or 0.23 to $52.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $55.40 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1241.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.039, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 100.35.
