Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Glass and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.46% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which rose 10.00% or 7.70 points to trade at 84.70 at the close. K.S. Terminals (TW:3003) added 9.98% or 4.10 points to end at 45.20 and Kpt Industries (TW:1805) was up 9.97% or 0.70 points to 7.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox (TW:3055), which lost 9.97% or 1.75 points to trade at 15.80 in late trade. Casetek (TW:5264) declined 9.81% or 10.10 points to end at 92.90 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) shed 8.36% or 0.29 points to 3.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 334 and 82 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.13% or 0.07 to $53.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.66 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.25 to trade at $1232.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 30.985, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2220.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.78.
