Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Hotels, Semiconductor and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lealea Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1444), which rose 9.65% or 0.92 points to trade at 10.45 at the close. Hung Chou Fiber Ind Co Ltd (TW:1413) added 9.10% or 0.69 points to end at 8.27 and Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) was up 6.91% or 23.00 points to 356.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which lost 9.96% or 4.00 points to trade at 36.15 in late trade. Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) declined 9.33% or 2.10 points to end at 20.40 and Inventec Corp (TW:2356) shed 3.72% or 0.95 points to 24.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 500 to 242 and 134 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.09% or 0.04 to $45.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $47.69 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.09 to trade at $1223.19 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.06% to 30.327, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 95.29.
