Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Paper & Pulp and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which rose 9.97% or 3.40 points to trade at 37.50 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.94% or 2.70 points to end at 29.85 and Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209) was up 9.89% or 2.60 points to 28.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402), which lost 9.62% or 2.05 points to trade at 19.25 in late trade. Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133) declined 5.96% or 0.65 points to end at 10.25 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) shed 5.21% or 0.15 points to 2.73.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 471 to 287 and 117 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.22% or 0.10 to $45.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.22 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1253.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.29% to 30.358, while TWD/CNY fell 0.13% to 0.2227.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.81.
