Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronic Products Distribution and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.68% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ali (TW:3041), which rose 10.00% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.60 at the close. Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) added 9.98% or 0.590 points to end at 6.500 and San Fu (TW:4755) was up 9.96% or 2.60 points to 28.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ygg (TW:1589), which lost 10.00% or 20.50 points to trade at 184.50 in late trade. Phytohealth (TW:4108) declined 9.93% or 3.80 points to end at 34.45 and Candmark (TW:5259) shed 9.80% or 0.30 points to 2.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 482 to 278 and 93 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.86% or 0.39 to $45.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.75% or 0.35 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.42% or 5.65 to trade at $1364.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.212, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2066.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.54.
