Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Optoelectronic and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Rectron Ltd (TW:2302), which rose 10.00% or 0.75 points to trade at 8.25 at the close. Pan Jit International Inc (TW:2481) added 10.00% or 2.70 points to end at 29.70 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.97% or 3.15 points to 34.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321), which lost 4.86% or 0.60 points to trade at 11.75 in late trade. Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp (TW:3189) declined 3.94% or 1.95 points to end at 47.55 and Taiwan Tea Corp (TW:2913) shed 3.11% or 0.55 points to 17.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 670 to 145 and 91 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.60% or 0.31 to $52.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.18% or 0.71 to hit $60.91 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1248.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 30.816, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2222.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.382.
