Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Optoelectronic and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786), which rose 10.00% or 6.30 points to trade at 69.30 at the close. Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) added 10.00% or 1.85 points to end at 20.35 and Tatung Co (TW:2371) was up 9.96% or 2.80 points to 30.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which lost 10.00% or 2.25 points to trade at 20.25 in late trade. Danen Technology Corp (TW:3686) declined 9.91% or 0.56 points to end at 5.09 and Sitronix Technology Corp (TW:8016) shed 9.62% or 11.50 points to 108.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 597 to 242 and 82 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.39% or 0.29 to $74.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.65% or 0.50 to hit $77.61 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.10 to trade at $1261.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 30.367, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2183.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.57.
