Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Cement and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which rose 10.00% or 4.00 points to trade at 44.00 at the close. VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) added 10.00% or 2.05 points to end at 22.55 and Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) was up 9.97% or 7.50 points to 82.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharmally International Holding Co Ltd (TW:6452), which lost 9.77% or 15.00 points to trade at 138.50 in late trade. Thye Ming Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9927) declined 3.63% or 1.15 points to end at 30.55 and President Chain Store Corp (TW:2912) shed 3.51% or 11.50 points to 316.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 711 to 117 and 74 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.71% or 0.44 to $61.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.49% or 0.35 to hit $71.78 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 3.70 to trade at $1230.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.18% to 30.723, while TWD/CNY rose 0.35% to 0.2262.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.90.
