Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016), which rose 10.00% or 3.05 points to trade at 33.55 at the close. Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) added 10.00% or 2.40 points to end at 26.40 and Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033) was up 10.00% or 1.20 points to 13.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Space Shuttle Hi-Tech Co Ltd (TW:2440), which lost 9.97% or 1.70 points to trade at 15.35 in late trade. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) declined 9.96% or 5.40 points to end at 48.80 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) shed 9.92% or 3.50 points to 31.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 558 to 227 and 126 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.13% or 0.08 to $61.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.12% or 0.08 to hit $64.42 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 1.10 to trade at $1328.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 29.267, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2161.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 89.57.
