Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.44% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025), which rose 9.87% or 2.95 points to trade at 32.85 at the close. Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd (TW:2376) added 8.15% or 4.70 points to end at 62.40 and CMC Magnetics Corp (TW:2323) was up 7.90% or 0.620 points to 8.470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424), which lost 9.60% or 3.10 points to trade at 29.20 in late trade. Hota Industrial Mfg. Co Ltd (TW:1536) declined 6.52% or 9.00 points to end at 129.00 and MediaTek Inc (TW:2454) shed 6.08% or 16.50 points to 255.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 564 to 224 and 128 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.21% or 0.14 to $67.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $72.97 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 5.90 to trade at $1219.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.30% to 30.723, while TWD/CNY rose 0.27% to 0.2218.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 94.56.
