Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.33% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tatung Co (TW:2371), which rose 9.98% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.60 at the close. Spirox Corp (TW:3055) added 9.92% or 2.45 points to end at 27.15 and SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786) was up 9.92% or 3.70 points to 41.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Copartner Technology Corp (TW:3550), which lost 9.07% or 2.30 points to trade at 23.05 in late trade. Lextar Electronics Corp (TW:3698) declined 8.75% or 2.30 points to end at 24.00 and Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) shed 8.68% or 3.85 points to 40.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 454 to 355 and 79 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.15% or 0.09 to $61.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $67.69 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.90 to trade at $1319.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 29.505, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2200.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.84.
