Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935), which rose 9.95% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.45 at the close. Li Cheng Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:4426) added 9.95% or 3.85 points to end at 42.55 and Carnival Industrial Corp (TW:1417) was up 9.94% or 0.48 points to 5.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox Corp (TW:3055), which lost 10.00% or 3.30 points to trade at 29.70 in late trade. Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2392) declined 10.00% or 3.95 points to end at 35.55 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) shed 7.69% or 20.00 points to 240.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 412 to 402 and 103 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.39% or 0.28 to $71.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.26% or 0.20 to hit $78.23 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.20 to trade at $1293.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 29.900, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2116.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.15.
