Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Optoelectronic and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016), which rose 10.00% or 4.40 points to trade at 48.40 at the close. Chia Chang Co Ltd (TW:4942) added 9.95% or 3.20 points to end at 35.35 and Taroko Textile Corp (TW:1432) was up 9.95% or 0.88 points to 9.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatung Co (TW:2371), which lost 6.60% or 2.80 points to trade at 39.60 in late trade. Taiwan Cement Corp (TW:1101) declined 5.23% or 1.85 points to end at 33.50 and Inventec Corp (TW:2356) shed 4.03% or 0.90 points to 21.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 515 to 278 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.68% or 0.35 to $51.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.53% or 0.32 to hit $60.24 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.30 to trade at $1226.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 30.902, while TWD/CNY rose 0.22% to 0.2245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 96.955.
