Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Plastic and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101), which rose 9.97% or 0.34 points to trade at 3.75 at the close. Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912) added 9.82% or 0.97 points to end at 10.85 and AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) was up 9.81% or 10.50 points to 117.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which lost 9.98% or 2.40 points to trade at 21.65 in late trade. Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) declined 7.54% or 1.90 points to end at 23.30 and Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434) shed 5.82% or 1.05 points to 17.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 498 to 316 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.13% or 0.08 to $61.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1317.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.34% to 29.045, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2166.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 90.00.
