Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) (Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN)) has reached another permitting and approvals stepping stone after completing an environmental survey at its Victory Bore Vanadium Project in Western Australia.
In November 2022, the company engaged Onshore Environmental Consultants to carry out the required flora and vegetation survey, along with a vertebrate fauna assessment.
A total of eight vegetation types were recorded, with conditions ranging from “very good” to “degraded”, but included no species currently classified as threatened.
“Significant milestone”
Surefire managing director Paul Burton said the completion of the survey marked a significant milestone in the approvals process for the Victory Bore project.
“We are pleased that the area has no impediments and we will now continue to progress this to the next stage of being awarded a mining licence,” he said.
“This good news comes at a time of increasing vanadium prices and increasing awareness and uptake of vanadium redox batteries which bodes well for Surefire shareholders.”
Further value at Victory Bore
Surefire’s permitting process for Victory Bore is running alongside a pre-feasibility study and test work examining the potential for the production of high-purity aluminium oxide.
Though the focus at Victory Bore is vanadium, aluminium oxide is also present in the waste rock surrounding the primary resource. In March, Surefire appointed Blue Lava to demonstrate a method of producing high-purity alumina from this material.
“The extensive high grades of aluminium oxide in the waste rock at our Victory Bore vanadium project make this stand out from other vanadium resources,” Burton said in the March announcement.
“If the test work is successful, this could potentially add significant additional value to the Victory Bore asset. This would further enhance this project as one the world’s largest and potentially richest undeveloped vanadium resources.”
