Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has a new CEO following the appointment of Jan De Jager effective today.
De Jager brings 25 years of experience to Surefire and has worked across operational, finance, commercial, strategy and business development roles.
He has held senior leadership roles in AVZ Minerals, Covalent Lithium, Roy Hill and Xstrata Nickel in Australia. He also played a major hand with Sasol Mining in South Africa, where he was responsible for private equity deals and business restructuring.
De Jager’s experience in bringing greenfield and brownfield projects from scoping stage into production will be invaluable for the company.
“The board and I are delighted with the appointment of Mr De Jager and consider him to be a valuable addition to the Surefire team,” Surefire executive chair Vladamir Nikolaenko said.
“He will greatly assist in aggressively progressing and advancing the company’s key vanadium projects at Victory Bore and Unaly Hill, Perenjori Iron Ore, its Yidby Gold discovery and Kooline Silver-Lead Project.”
Busy time for Surefire
Surefire has been full steam ahead this year and De Jager comes in at a busy time.
Last week, the company welcomed results from a desktop subterranean fauna study for the Victory Bore Vanadium Project in Western Australia’s Mid-West that confirmed there is no risk of significant impact to subterranean fauna from the project and that it is unlikely that they occur in the area.
The company also recently filed an Australian provisional patent application with IP Australia to protect its proprietary vanadium recovery process.
“It is a privilege to be entrusted to lead Surefire as its next CEO and I look forward to the opportunity of driving the progression of Surefire to its full value and the realisation of substantial increase in value to its stakeholders from all of the company’s projects, particularly from its world-class vanadium deposit during a period where the world seriously needs sustainable production of critical minerals more than ever before,” De Jager said.
