Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Land & Property and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM:UCHE), which rose 12.93% or 70.40 points to trade at 615.00 at the close. Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) added 12.91% or 93.60 points to end at 818.50 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) was up 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Harischandra Mills PLC (CM:HARI), which lost 7.06% or 190.70 points to trade at 2510.00 in late trade. Browns Beach Hotels PLC (CM:BBH) declined 6.90% or 2.00 points to end at 27.00 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) shed 6.67% or 1.00 points to 14.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 89 and 56 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.58% or 0.76 to $47.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.92% or 0.46 to hit $49.50 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.35% or 4.65 to trade at $1341.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.28% to 192.605, while USD/LKR rose 0.31% to 145.955.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.59.
