Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction & Engineering, Information Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.12% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 14.29% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Colombo Fort Land & Building PLC (CM:CFLB) added 12.99% or 2.30 points to end at 20.00 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was up 11.36% or 2.50 points to 24.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company Ltd (CM:LLMP), which lost 10.00% or 0.300 points to trade at 2.700 in late trade. F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) declined 9.09% or 0.100 points to end at 1.000 and Colombo City Holdings PLC (CM:PHAR) shed 8.98% or 79.00 points to 801.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 89 to 70 and 56 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.68% or 0.36 to $52.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.70% or 0.39 to hit $55.05 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 8.15 to trade at $1202.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.56% to 189.145, while USD/LKR rose 0.10% to 150.260.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 100.05.
