Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF), which rose 14.29% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Lighthouse Hotel PLC (CM:LHL) added 12.50% or 3.70 points to end at 33.30 and Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) was up 10.98% or 2.80 points to 28.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.100 in late trade. Eastern Merchants PLC (CM:EMER) declined 8.16% or 0.40 points to end at 4.50 and J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI) shed 7.06% or 50.90 points to 670.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 89 to 54 and 52 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.94% or 1.42 to $71.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 2.25% or 1.87 to hit $81.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.25% or 14.90 to trade at $1208.30 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.03% to 226.220, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 171.290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 94.84.
