Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS), which rose 20.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Hunter & Company PLC (CM:HUNT) added 14.68% or 61.30 points to end at 478.80 and Lankem Ceylon PLC (CM:LCEY) was up 13.52% or 3.80 points to 31.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE), which lost 28.57% or 0.200 points to trade at 0.500 in late trade. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) declined 16.53% or 247.60 points to end at 1250.00 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) shed 11.65% or 2.90 points to 22.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 73 and 55 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.09% or 0.06 to $68.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.30% or 0.23 to hit $77.50 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.79% or 9.50 to trade at $1210.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.04% to 209.210, while USD/LKR fell 0.29% to 161.740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.10.
