Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Trading, Palm Oil and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.11% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 28.57% or 0.200 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. ASCOT Holdings PLC (CM:ASCO) added 24.83% or 7.20 points to end at 36.20 and EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) was up 20.29% or 227.70 points to 1350.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT), which lost 19.05% or 12.00 points to trade at 51.00 in late trade. Harischandra Mills PLC (CM:HARI) declined 18.58% or 251.10 points to end at 1100.00 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) shed 14.29% or 0.100 points to 0.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 82 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.10% or 0.07 to $72.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.56% or 0.43 to hit $77.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1254.30 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.45% to 207.170, while USD/LKR fell 0.09% to 158.240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 94.84.
