Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Land & Property and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Bukit Darah PLC (CM:BUKI), which rose 23.39% or 65.40 points to trade at 345.00 at the close. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) added 14.91% or 7.90 points to end at 60.90 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 14.29% or 0.1000 points to 0.8000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL), which lost 14.29% or 9.00 points to trade at 54.00 in late trade. Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) declined 10.54% or 5.90 points to end at 50.10 and Lake House Printers and Publishers PLC (CM:LPRT) shed 10.00% or 12.90 points to 116.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 73 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.28% or 0.64 to $49.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.18% or 0.60 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.85 to trade at $1271.75 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.47% to 179.795, while USD/LKR fell 0.05% to 147.655.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 98.50.
