Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Services and Trading sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Chemanex PLC (CM:CHMX), which rose 23.70% or 10.90 points to trade at 56.90 at the close. Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH) was up 20.00% or 0.100 points to 0.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ), which lost 24.20% or 20.50 points to trade at 64.20 in late trade. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 13.59% or 126.00 points to end at 801.00 and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) shed 13.47% or 10.90 points to 70.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 132 to 53 and 51 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.36% or 0.25 to $68.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $76.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1209.60 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.14% to 208.070, while USD/LKR rose 0.08% to 161.390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.75.
