Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power & Energy, Land & Property and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Janashakthi Insurance Company PLC (CM:JINS), which rose 23.53% or 4.00 points to trade at 21.00 at the close. Indo Malay PLC (CM:INDO) added 23.00% or 299.00 points to end at 1599.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 20.00% or 0.1000 points to 0.6000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR), which lost 11.11% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 in late trade. Radiant Gems International PLC (CM:RGEM) declined 10.42% or 2.50 points to end at 21.50 and Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) shed 9.09% or 0.100 points to 1.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 54 and 51 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.69% or 0.45 to $65.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $69.02 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.90 to trade at $1344.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.60% to 217.160, while USD/LKR rose 0.18% to 154.010.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 88.97.
