Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Stores & Supplies, Footwear & Textile and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to trade at 0.400 at the close. Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT) added 16.98% or 10.80 points to end at 74.40 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) was up 16.67% or 0.100 points to 0.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which lost 20.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.4000 in late trade. Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) declined 14.43% or 10.00 points to end at 59.30 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) shed 12.86% or 192.60 points to 1305.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 79 to 76 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.58% or 0.43 to $74.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.23% or 0.96 to hit $79.03 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.51% or 6.40 to trade at $1253.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.36% to 211.060, while USD/LKR unchanged 0.00% to 159.290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 94.07.
