Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (BR:SOF), which rose 1.17% or 1.50 points to trade at 129.90 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.10% or 0.14 points to end at 13.29 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 0.88% or 0.95 points to 108.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 1.70% or 1.24 points to trade at 71.85 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 0.78% or 0.36 points to end at 45.78 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 0.73% or 0.39 points to 52.92.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 51 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.66% or 8.25 to $1250.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.49% or 0.25 to hit $51.28 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.32 to trade at $54.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0659, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8541.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 100.53.
