Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 2.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX), which rose 0.70% or 0.10 points to trade at 14.38 at the close. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) added 0.08% or 0.10 points to end at 119.05 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 25.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 4.63% or 0.208 points to trade at 4.288 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 4.41% or 0.055 points to end at 1.192 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 4.21% or 0.050 points to 1.138.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 159 to 31 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.24% or 16.65 to $1355.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.49% or 2.20 to hit $46.79 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.27% or 2.14 to trade at $47.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.1092, while EUR/GBP rose 1.29% to 0.8499.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.08.
