Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gamesa (MC:GAM), which rose 1.26% or 0.280 points to trade at 22.460 at the close. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) added 1.15% or 1.70 points to end at 150.00 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was up 0.91% or 0.290 points to 32.185 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 10.44% or 0.095 points to trade at 0.815 in late trade. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) declined 2.74% or 0.047 points to end at 1.671 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) shed 2.69% or 0.192 points to 6.946.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 101 to 68 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.27% or 3.35 to $1254.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $50.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.36 to trade at $53.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0657, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8539.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 100.47.
