Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA), which rose 0.55% or 0.70 points to trade at 127.30 at the close. Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) added 0.26% or 0.04 points to end at 15.52 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was up 0.14% or 0.001 points to 0.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 2.74% or 0.157 points to trade at 5.564 in late trade. Acerinox (MC:ACX) declined 1.99% or 0.230 points to end at 11.345 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) shed 1.96% or 0.023 points to 1.150.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 140 to 48 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1326.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.81% or 0.86 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 0.85 to trade at $49.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8546.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 95.66.
