Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MC:ITX), which rose 2.33% or 0.640 points to trade at 28.170 at the close. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) added 2.27% or 0.895 points to end at 40.315 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 1.43% or 0.260 points to 18.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 11.66% or 0.538 points to trade at 4.075 in late trade. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) declined 7.14% or 0.408 points to end at 5.303 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) shed 5.24% or 0.091 points to 1.647.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 92 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.12% or 27.45 to $1266.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.64% or 1.18 to hit $43.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 1.63 to trade at $43.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1398, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 94.06.
