Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which rose 3.10% or 0.565 points to trade at 18.790 at the close. Acerinox (MC:ACX) added 2.72% or 0.315 points to end at 11.900 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 2.06% or 0.540 points to 26.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE), which lost 1.48% or 0.300 points to trade at 20.040 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) declined 1.41% or 0.097 points to end at 6.770 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 1.13% or 0.092 points to 8.019.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 67 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.52% or 6.54 to $1252.34 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.58% or 0.67 to hit $43.20 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.78% or 0.80 to trade at $45.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1152, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8803.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 97.26.
