Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Consumer Services and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Enagas (MC:ENAG), which rose 1.24% or 0.295 points to trade at 24.115 at the close. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) added 1.10% or 0.066 points to end at 6.058 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) was up 1.04% or 0.180 points to 17.425 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Acerinox (MC:ACX), which lost 6.72% or 0.890 points to trade at 12.350 in late trade. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 3.47% or 0.268 points to end at 7.449 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 3.24% or 0.365 points to 10.895.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 68 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.37% or 4.40 to $1201.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.49% or 0.78 to hit $53.03 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.81% or 1.00 to trade at $56.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.0658, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.8732.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.66% at 101.03.
