Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 2.53% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 0.56% or 0.065 points to trade at 11.750 at the close. Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) fell 0.41% or 0.080 points to end at 19.520 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) was down 0.42% or 0.017 points to 4.012 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX), which lost 4.21% or 0.89 points to trade at 20.24 in late trade. ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS) declined 4.01% or 1.240 points to end at 29.690 and Iberdrola (MC:IBE) shed 3.96% or 0.250 points to 6.058.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 171 to 21 and 6 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 6.10 to $1330.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.28% or 0.18 to hit $63.97 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.40 to trade at $67.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.2388, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8872.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 89.48.
