Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 1.44% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which rose 1.30% or 0.360 points to trade at 28.140 at the close. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) added 0.98% or 0.018 points to end at 1.856 and Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 19.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE), which lost 3.85% or 1.050 points to trade at 26.250 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 3.17% or 0.132 points to end at 4.029 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 2.81% or 0.700 points to 24.180.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 156 to 22 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.08% or 1.10 to $1338.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.76% or 1.15 to hit $64.30 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.81 to trade at $67.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2424, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 89.31.
