Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.26% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 0.63% or 0.075 points to trade at 11.900 at the close. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) added 0.22% or 0.014 points to end at 6.286 and Indra A (MC:IDR) was up 0.19% or 0.020 points to 10.470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 4.60% or 1.200 points to trade at 24.900 in late trade. Acerinox (MC:ACX) declined 3.20% or 0.395 points to end at 11.950 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 2.63% or 0.204 points to 7.552.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 130 to 32 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.37% or 16.40 to $1184.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.37% or 2.26 to hit $64.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.40% or 1.74 to trade at $70.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1344, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8931.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.61.
