Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 0.91% or 0.230 points to trade at 25.450 at the close. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) added 0.68% or 0.180 points to end at 26.660 and Inditex (MC:ITX) was up 0.55% or 0.150 points to 27.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 4.61% or 1.390 points to trade at 28.730 in late trade. Repsol (MC:REP) declined 4.37% or 0.750 points to end at 16.410 and Acciona (MC:ANA) shed 2.27% or 1.560 points to 67.240.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 125 to 47 and 29 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1291.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.78% or 0.56 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.39 to trade at $79.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1700, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8765.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 93.94.
