Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.80% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which rose 2.98% or 0.099 points to trade at 3.420 at the close. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) added 1.98% or 0.026 points to end at 1.365 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 1.51% or 0.090 points to 6.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 4.62% or 0.093 points to trade at 1.922 in late trade. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) declined 4.18% or 3.360 points to end at 76.940 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 2.89% or 0.730 points to 24.540.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 64 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.20 to $1202.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.13% or 0.79 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.70 to trade at $77.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1622, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.9004.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 95.12.
