Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which rose 2.24% or 0.615 points to trade at 28.110 at the close. Viscofan (MC:VIS) added 1.53% or 0.900 points to end at 59.900 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was up 1.07% or 0.120 points to 11.370 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cie Automotive (MC:CIEA), which lost 2.59% or 0.680 points to trade at 25.620 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 2.14% or 0.041 points to end at 1.872 and ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS) shed 2.08% or 0.780 points to 36.740.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 72 and 26 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 6.00 to $1217.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.47% or 1.01 to hit $67.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.05% or 1.52 to trade at $72.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1667, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8894.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.45.
