Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 2.93% or 0.073 points to trade at 2.568 at the close. Cie Automotive (MC:CIEA) added 1.34% or 0.340 points to end at 25.620 and Endesa (MC:ELE) was up 0.95% or 0.180 points to 19.075 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which lost 2.13% or 0.245 points to trade at 11.260 in late trade. BBVA (MC:BBVA) declined 2.11% or 0.128 points to end at 5.946 and Aena SME SA (MC:AENA) shed 1.96% or 3.05 points to 152.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 128 to 50 and 23 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.82% or 10.30 to $1244.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.80% or 1.43 to trade at $77.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.1609, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 94.78.
