Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MC:ITX), which rose 1.72% or 0.530 points to trade at 31.295 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 1.22% or 0.051 points to end at 4.221 and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) was up 1.09% or 0.120 points to 11.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gas Natural (MC:GAS), which lost 2.27% or 0.445 points to trade at 19.205 in late trade. Ferrovial (MC:FER) declined 1.69% or 0.310 points to end at 18.020 and Acciona (MC:ANA) shed 1.60% or 1.110 points to 68.390.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 66 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.60% or 7.40 to $1249.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.25% or 0.79 to trade at $62.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1766, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.86.
