Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS), which rose 7.96% or 2.440 points to trade at 33.090 at the close. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 3.83% or 0.930 points to end at 25.190 and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) was up 3.70% or 0.460 points to 12.880 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 1.93% or 0.450 points to trade at 22.870 in late trade. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) declined 1.87% or 0.102 points to end at 5.351 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) shed 1.50% or 0.100 points to 6.570.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 83 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.18% or 2.40 to $1324.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $60.77 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $64.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.2376, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8862.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.69.
