Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 2.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 8.43% or 0.398 points to trade at 5.118 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 8.01% or 0.093 points to end at 1.254 and Banco Santander (MC:SAN) was up 6.50% or 0.232 points to 3.801 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 1.79% or 0.365 points to trade at 20.065 in late trade. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) declined 1.16% or 1.45 points to end at 124.05 and Endesa (MC:ELE) shed 0.85% or 0.155 points to 18.085.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 137 to 60 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.80% or 24.45 to $1332.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 4.36% or 1.95 to hit $46.71 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 4.52% or 2.09 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1092, while EUR/GBP fell 1.94% to 0.8349.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 96.33.
