Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.73% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 6.43% or 0.215 points to trade at 3.557 at the close. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) added 4.03% or 0.208 points to end at 5.371 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was up 3.99% or 0.053 points to 1.382 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 2.18% or 0.168 points to trade at 7.540 in late trade. Endesa (MC:ELE) declined 0.98% or 0.190 points to end at 19.215 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) shed 0.85% or 0.195 points to 22.765.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 40 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.34% or 16.25 to $1194.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $53.16 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.11 to trade at $55.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0726, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.8513.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 100.16.
