Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.33% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 6.72% or 1.150 points to trade at 18.270 at the close. Bankia (MC:BKIA) added 6.19% or 0.060 points to end at 1.030 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) was up 4.11% or 0.213 points to 5.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE), which lost 1.74% or 0.305 points to trade at 17.230 in late trade. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 1.70% or 0.129 points to end at 7.444 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 1.61% or 0.180 points to 10.990.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 68 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 3.07% or 35.75 to $1127.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.09 to trade at $53.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.35% to 1.0392, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8376.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.27% at 103.33.
