Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 5.55% or 0.036 points to trade at 0.685 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 3.55% or 0.238 points to end at 6.934 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) was up 3.43% or 0.127 points to 3.827 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abertis Infr (MC:ABE), which lost 3.07% or 0.500 points to trade at 15.795 in late trade. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) declined 1.26% or 0.084 points to end at 6.569 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) shed 1.07% or 0.17 points to 15.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 102 to 62 and 13 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.86% or 11.10 to $1283.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.39% or 0.73 to hit $51.68 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.80 to trade at $54.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.0713, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8379.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 99.69.
