Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which rose 4.45% or 0.570 points to trade at 13.390 at the close. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) added 2.94% or 0.100 points to end at 3.500 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 2.86% or 0.210 points to 7.545 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG), which lost 2.04% or 0.117 points to trade at 5.607 in late trade. BBVA (MC:BBVA) declined 0.99% or 0.061 points to end at 6.127 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) shed 0.97% or 0.10 points to 10.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 110 to 52 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.82% or 9.95 to $1218.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.20% or 0.11 to hit $53.77 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $56.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0793, while EUR/GBP rose 1.10% to 0.8601.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 99.57.
