Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which rose 3.88% or 0.37 points to trade at 9.80 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 2.86% or 0.495 points to end at 17.820 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) was up 2.59% or 0.053 points to 2.099 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Viscofan (MC:VIS), which lost 1.73% or 0.855 points to trade at 48.720 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 1.07% or 0.015 points to end at 1.391 and Red Electrica Corp. (MC:REE) shed 1.05% or 0.830 points to 78.040.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 78 and 23 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.65 to $1270.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.26% or 0.63 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.66 to trade at $49.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.67% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.7693.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 93.68.
