Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 4.75% or 0.055 points to trade at 1.213 at the close. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) added 2.34% or 0.092 points to end at 4.020 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) was up 2.24% or 0.053 points to 2.423 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.62% or 0.199 points to trade at 5.301 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) declined 2.10% or 0.097 points to end at 4.512 and Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) shed 1.80% or 0.755 points to 41.195.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 80 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.75 to $1311.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.45% or 1.60 to hit $44.75 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.43% or 1.67 to trade at $47.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1162, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8495.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.97.
