Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 5.45% or 0.640 points to trade at 12.390 at the close. Bankinter (MC:BKT) added 3.49% or 0.306 points to end at 9.076 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 3.20% or 0.284 points to 9.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 0.25% or 0.010 points to trade at 4.002 in late trade. Acerinox (MC:ACX) declined 0.13% or 0.015 points to end at 11.290 and Inditex (MC:ITX) gained 0.45% or 0.120 points to 26.750.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 165 to 22 and 8 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.68% or 9.10 to $1320.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.71% or 1.72 to hit $61.67 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.41 to trade at $65.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.85% to 1.2271, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8847.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.70% at 90.15.
