Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Telefonica (MC:TEF), which rose 3.80% or 0.290 points to trade at 7.930 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 2.90% or 0.113 points to end at 4.010 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) was up 1.93% or 0.400 points to 21.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS), which lost 1.33% or 0.380 points to trade at 28.220 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 0.96% or 0.039 points to end at 4.000 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 0.58% or 0.070 points to 11.960.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 93 to 87 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.10% or 1.30 to $1333.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.04% or 1.26 to hit $62.94 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 1.05 to trade at $66.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.2342, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8831.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 89.62.
